"Come what may, and love it"

I have been reading all the conference talks this past month and one that stuck out to me most is "Come what may, and love it" By Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. In it he tells about a time when he was a boy and his team lost a football game and when he came home to tell his mother the sad news what she said to him was "Come what may, and love it". Ive come to love this saying and its meaning and am trying hard to put it in my daily life. Another comment Elder Wirthlin made was "The way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life". In the past I guess you could say I was a bit pessimistic even though id try and say I was being realistic. Ive realized my attitude towards situations up here have been pessimistic and after reading this talk and my book "Finding Happiness, Peace and Joy" by Richard G. Scott have uplifted my spirits and given me a bit of a boost to change my attitude. Four points Elder Wirthlin made were....
1. Learn to Laugh
2. Seek for the Eternal
3. The principle of Compensation
4. Trust is the Father and the Son

Learning to laugh at hard situations is a tough thing to learn for me. Im the type of person to get annoyed easily and frustrated but get over it very quickly. I have tried these past couple weeks to laugh at the tough situations that come my way and have noticed how much more relaxed I am and how much more peaceful I have been. Along with that I have been playing my church cd in my car to and from work and noticed the calmness it has brought me and how it has guided me to make right choices.

Seek for the Eternal-"You may feel singled out when adversity enters your life. You shake your head and wonder, "Why me?"
"But the dial on the wheel of sorrow eventually points to each of us. At one time or another, everyone must experience sorrow. No one is exempt."
I know I have sincerely felt this many times where I feel as if I am completely alone and no one would ever understand how I am feeling but I now know the Lord is always there feeling what I am feeling and trying with all his might to show me the way to Eternal life.
As the Prophet Joseph Smith once heard from the Lord " My son, peace be unto thy soul thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment." "And then, if though endure it well. God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes."
The Lord has given us a plan and has placed these trials in front of us to see if we are willing to overcome them and become like him.

Along with seeking for the eternal comes the principle of compensation. I believe both tie in with each other. The Lord has promised us that if we are faithful and endure to the end he will bless us now in our mortal life and also in the life after. Another thing to tie into those is Trust in the Father and the Son. "God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son." "The Lord Jesus Christ is our partner, helper and advocate. He wants us to be happy . He wants us to be successful. If we do our part, He will step in."

This talk has helped me immensely these past couple weeks. I am trying hard to change my attitude and do what Elder Wirthlin says "Come what may, and love it." This talk has been tugging at me for a while and I just felt the need to share what I have learned from it. I hope all of you can put this in your life and learn to laugh and enjoy life.

Remember "As we look for humor, seek for the eternal perspective, understand the principle of compensation, and draw near to our Heavenly Father, we can endure hardship and trial." Let as us all remember "Come what may, and love it"!

Happy TURKEY DAY!!!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I want to let everyone know what I am thankful for!

-My family. I dont know what I would do without them. They are my best friends and are always there for me no matter what and I know I can tell them anything.

-My job. I know its been hard lately for people to get jobs with the economy going down and I am thankful the lord has blessed me with such a great job!

-My room mates. I have been blessed with such great room mates that have helped me out with so much!

-My friends. I am thankful for my close friends who are in Utah and in Arizona. By sending me little texts just saying hi or asking how I am. I appreciate their thoughtfulness.

-The gospel. I am so very thankful for the gospel and the happiness it has brought to me in my life. I know the Lord is there listening and always caring for us and I am ever so thankful for that!

I hope you all have a great TURKEY DAY! With lots of fun and safety!

My eventful weekend...

So nothing new has really happened but I had a fun weekend so I thought I would post about it.

FRIDAY-
Oh what a glorius day....NOT. I rolled out of bed and literally put my contacts in and went to work but don't worry on my way to work my car completely shut off on me in the middle of the road. Thank goodness I wasn't in the intersection yet, so some nice people helped me push my car to a parking lot where I sat and cried cause no one was answering their phones to come help me. I literally sat there pleading with the Lord to help me and he defiantly answered my prayer because right as I was about to walk home I decided to start it one more time and it started! I said many prayers of thanks that day and still now I do. So I got to work a wee bit late, didn't do much of anything that day since it was slow so I watched the clock tick by slowly. Later on on Friday Julie and I went to dinner after trying to find a resurante without an hour wait. We ate at Olive Garden, then headed to a party that we never actually went into cause it looked a bit lame, drove around for a bit just enjoying hanging out then went and saw MAMA MIA! I love that movie and it was extremely fun watching the guy a few rows in front of us dancing and singing in his seat(dont worry he's in my ward :0!)I really love hanging out with Julie she is so much like my family that I know I can always get a good laugh and she will always be there for me!

Saturday-
Now this day really was a glorius day. I slept in till 11 and did nothing it was great! I picked up my last check at my old job, chatted with an old co-worker and got a new curling iron yay! Later I went to my friend Alyssa Smiths apartment and we met up with a group of her friends to go to Laugh Out Loud a comedy show put on by BYU students. They did a really good job and it was pretty funny. After the comedy show we decided it would be fun to go play Sardines in the BYU library. For those of you who don't know what Sardines is it is when 1 person hides and everyone tries to find them and hide with that person. I ended going with Jason and we hid first. It was alot of fun playing Especially the hiding spots people chose. The last 2 Blaine and Haley had the best spot by far! They got the 5th floor and that floor doesn't have very good hiding spots. Honestly we all looked for a good 20 minutes trying to find them and could not find them. They finally text us a clue and said they were by an elevator. Still none of use could find them but alas one group did and gave us a better hint! They were by the elevator BUT hiding in the window sill behind the blinds. Very sneaky of them cause honestly Jason and I walked by the very spot multiple times and they were very well hidden. All in all the weekend has been a good one! It is starting to get colder now and im preparing for the worst :)

Ps I come home for thanksgiving a week from Monday for anyone that wanted to know!

HAPPY BRITHDAY TO ME!

This past Friday was my birthday I am now 20!! I woke up around 6 to call in sick for work(cause i just did not want to go plus my car was broken) So as I was falling back asleep I hear happy birthday being sung and i kinda open my eyes and see blond and thought it was my room mates but I opened them up and it was my Mama, Lyssa and my friend Mark!! I was so shocked and couldn't believe they were here!! After all that my mama made me french toast and bacon. We went to their hotel so they could check in and then picked up my dad. He was already planning on coming up but my knew how bad I missed her that she HAD to come too. SO after that we went to lunch then headed to the mall to go birthday shopping! I got me some new vans some cute slip ons and some undershirts I've been in need of. After shopping my mama made me my favorite dinner spaghetti, garlic bread, and salad. It was so nice to have a home cooked meal! After dinner we opened My presents from bri and sommer! Sommer got me a really cute jacket from her clothing line and Bruce got me such a cute card and money :) I stayed the night with my family and the next day my dad took me to a BYU football game and then met up with my mom, lyss and mark at brick oven which is so delicious! After that we walked around BYU campus and went bowling over there. Today We went to church then had lunch together packed them all up and took pictures :( I was so sad to see them leave but thank goodness i am coming home in 2 weeks for thanksgiving!! It was seriously the best birthday ever just to have my family near!

Finally I have pictures thanks to Julie who is letting me upload pictures from her computer! So here are pictures from Julie's Ward Halloween Party and another night when we went to my Wars Halloween Party!

This is on Julie's lap top before we went out for my Ward Halloween Party. I got this Cat mask at Michael's before I came up here and used it one night

This I from Julie's Ward Halloween Party! She was a rocker chick and I was going for the Cindy Lauper 80's look! My room mate made my dress and with the left over fabric I made a belt and a head band.

Hope you all enjoy these pictures hopefully I can get a camera for my birthday (hint hint) and upload more pictures!!
