"Come what may, and love it"

I have been reading all the conference talks this past month and one that stuck out to me most is "Come what may, and love it" By Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin. In it he tells about a time when he was a boy and his team lost a football game and when he came home to tell his mother the sad news what she said to him was "Come what may, and love it". Ive come to love this saying and its meaning and am trying hard to put it in my daily life. Another comment Elder Wirthlin made was "The way we react to adversity can be a major factor in how happy and successful we can be in life". In the past I guess you could say I was a bit pessimistic even though id try and say I was being realistic. Ive realized my attitude towards situations up here have been pessimistic and after reading this talk and my book "Finding Happiness, Peace and Joy" by Richard G. Scott have uplifted my spirits and given me a bit of a boost to change my attitude. Four points Elder Wirthlin made were....
1. Learn to Laugh
2. Seek for the Eternal
3. The principle of Compensation
4. Trust is the Father and the Son

Learning to laugh at hard situations is a tough thing to learn for me. Im the type of person to get annoyed easily and frustrated but get over it very quickly. I have tried these past couple weeks to laugh at the tough situations that come my way and have noticed how much more relaxed I am and how much more peaceful I have been. Along with that I have been playing my church cd in my car to and from work and noticed the calmness it has brought me and how it has guided me to make right choices.

Seek for the Eternal-"You may feel singled out when adversity enters your life. You shake your head and wonder, "Why me?"
"But the dial on the wheel of sorrow eventually points to each of us. At one time or another, everyone must experience sorrow. No one is exempt."
I know I have sincerely felt this many times where I feel as if I am completely alone and no one would ever understand how I am feeling but I now know the Lord is always there feeling what I am feeling and trying with all his might to show me the way to Eternal life.
As the Prophet Joseph Smith once heard from the Lord " My son, peace be unto thy soul thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment." "And then, if though endure it well. God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes."
The Lord has given us a plan and has placed these trials in front of us to see if we are willing to overcome them and become like him.

Along with seeking for the eternal comes the principle of compensation. I believe both tie in with each other. The Lord has promised us that if we are faithful and endure to the end he will bless us now in our mortal life and also in the life after. Another thing to tie into those is Trust in the Father and the Son. "God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son." "The Lord Jesus Christ is our partner, helper and advocate. He wants us to be happy . He wants us to be successful. If we do our part, He will step in."

This talk has helped me immensely these past couple weeks. I am trying hard to change my attitude and do what Elder Wirthlin says "Come what may, and love it." This talk has been tugging at me for a while and I just felt the need to share what I have learned from it. I hope all of you can put this in your life and learn to laugh and enjoy life.

Remember "As we look for humor, seek for the eternal perspective, understand the principle of compensation, and draw near to our Heavenly Father, we can endure hardship and trial." Let as us all remember "Come what may, and love it"!
